Jenna Schurr

Biography

My name is Jenna. I begged my mother for a violin in the third grade, but found that I didn't care for it as much as I did the big melodic instrument of the person sitting next to me. I switched to the cello in 2006 and haven't regretted it once! On Live Music Tutor, I'll be teaching the cello. I love the range, beauty, and emotion the cello is capable of, and there is nothing quite as satisfying as expressing yourself through music. My goal is to help you unlock those rewards yourself. I played in my school orchestras every year, and in 2008, the kids' community orchestra I played in performed in Carnegie Hall. In 2012, I played principle chair in the North Torrance Youth Chamber Orchestra. In 2010, my private instructor suggested that I begin teaching my own students. Since then, I have taught beginning students from in first grade to graduating seniors in college. I have a passion for teaching and the cello, and am enthused to share both with you!
